Hello,  My name is Rhona Teale and I am the current President of Soroptimists International Barrow-in-Furness I have been a member of Girlguiding for nearly 50 years. I am a Trustee for Boxes of Hope Cumbria and Volunteer at Barrow Women’s Community Matters. I am 60 years old, a widow and live on Walney Island.. I  have a daughter, Dawn who has her own Painting and decorating business and a Son Adam who is just finishing his 2nd year nursing degree. I joined the Soroptimists because their values are very similar to that of Girlguiding.  I have travelled to India, Mexico and Romania to help those less fortunate than ourselves and I am sure that working together in partnership with other organizations we can transform and educate the lives of girls and young women both locally and internationally.

Welcome to the website of Soroptimist International Barrow in Furness. Our Club consists of a group of 14 friendly, lively and energetic ladies from all walks of life and of all ages working together and using our various skills and talents to make a difference locally and in the wider world. We work in partnership with a range of organizations   including Unicef,  Water aid,  Book Aid and  Maternal & Childbirth Advocacy International. We also support Emergency relief funds.

Membership of our organization gives you the opportunity to undertake local, national and international projects, that educate, empower and enable women and girls to reach their full potential.
