Bingley Youth Cafe

Bingley Youth Café is a project managed by Shipley and Bingley Voluntary Services and funded in part by the Big Lottery. The café works in partnership with other organisations such as Bradford Council and West Yorkshire Police. As this is a small organisation it seeks support from local community groups, businesses and other funders in order to deliver a quality youth provision to young people from Bingley and Bingley rural.

SI Bingley agreed to sponsor the Youth Café by providing refreshments for the young people as they go to the café straight from school. The cafe is open from Tuesday to Sunday and a safe environment in which they can complete homework as well as providing services including cooking lessons, arts and crafts workshops, games, music, job and health advice.

Members of SI Bingley are currently exploring how they can share their skills and expertise with the young people. For example, helping the young people to write cvs and university applications, allowing them to practise their interview techniques before a selection panel, etc.

In addition, members were asked to complete an evaluation of the Youth Café and the impact that it is having within the Bingley area.
