President’s Message, Ruth Gibson

Welcome to the website of Soroptimist International of Central Birmingham. I am President of the Soroptimist International of Central Birmingham (SICB) Club, April 2011 to April 2012.

My aim is to build on the work and dedication of Past Presidents of Central Birmingham. This year the club will be supporting the work of the Alzheimer’s Society http://alzheimers.org.uk. For many people Alzheimers is one of their greatest dreads, and by supporting the society we can raise money for research into the causes and cure of the disease. We hold two meetings a month, one of which is a supper meeting where we have a wide range of interesting speakers, and the other is a business meeting where we are kept up to date on a wide range of issues, both national and international such as ‘Violence Against Women’ and ‘Sex Trafficking’

One of our aims as Soroptimists is to give service and we have just made a link with a local school where we hope to fulfil my ambition for the year which is ‘Reaching our Potential as we seek to give Service to Others’
