Programme Action
One of the joys of being a Soroptimist is the opportunity to give service to the local community. This is known as Programme Action.
Members of Central Birmingham give service as individuals working for the Talking Newspaper for the Blind, Volunteering at the Sight Village, http://www.qac.ac.uk/sightvillage/home.htm,
working at St. Mary’s Hospice in Selly Oak, http://www.bsmh.org.uk/index.php
As a leading womens’ organisation in Birmingham we also provide gifts and toiletries for women and children at the Birmingham Crisis Centre http://www.birminghamcrisis.org.uk/, originally at Christmas and now throughout the year.
We support a VSO volunteer each year and we have great fun thinking of ways we can help, and fund raising for her. This year we are supporting Vicky who has gone out to Cambodea to support student teachers. Here is a link to Vick’s blog where she posts regular up-dates about her placement and life in Cambodia where she is training primary school teachers.

We also work collectively on a number of projects and have sponsored five children from Northfield Manor School to go to Knoxville Tennessee to enter a competition http://www.icnorthfieldmanor.co.uk/
