1.Violence Against Women

We support the local Women’s Refuge, providing a variety of goods, such as toiletries to help women and children through the difficult early stages in the Refuge. We have also held several fund raising events  to support this life transforming project. We also provide a Christmas Gift to all the women who have to spend this season in the Refuge. Several of our Members are Trustees of   “The Friends of Bournemouth Women’s Refuge” . We are often able to find furniture to those women who are moving on to their own accommodation to start a new life.If you have good quality items which you think might be suitable please get in touch.

We also remain interested in the issue of the Trafficking of Women.

4.Dhaka Support

One of our Friendship Link Clubs in Bangladesh runs several projects to help children from the slums or streets of  Dhaka  enter mainstream education.We send regular donations to assist them.The funds are raised in an enjoyable way. Marmalade and cake making for example.We have also held a Book Club Evening with supper included.This last event was really fun and made £120.The book we read was “Benedict’s Brother”.

We know that this money will be put to a very good use as we know the Soroptimists who take responsibility for the funds we raise for them.
