Lobbying

Our Lobbying Group is a small one. We communicate by email and use this method to sign petitions and write to our MPs and others on topics that interest us.The Club as a whole often signs e-petitions and in the past has done so to help ban Landmines and Cluster Bombs. We often do this through our partner organisations such as Handicap International. We have also signed SI.Poole’s Purple Teardrop Charity petitions which lobbies against Trafficking.The latest petition from Poole involves signing up to bring legislation to ban advertising sex for sale. An new initiative will be writing to the Rt Hon Dr Vince Cable to bring about a Code of Conduct to prevent UK Finance Companies from Investing in cluster munitions. We are gaining in confidence as we learn more about Parliamentary proceedures and the democratic process.
