SI Bristol is a lively friendly service club of around 40 members. We are women from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, with a mixture of professional and other skills – but all with one aim in common: To make a difference in the lives of women and girls throughout the world.
As well as contributing to international projects, members of SI Bristol are active in the local community, both individually and collectively as a club.
Our Club’s theme for 2016-17 is “Awareness and Action”. Being Aware of the many obstacles that prevent women and girls from achieving their full potential is what inspires us to Action. You can read about what some of this action involves on our website’s Programme Action page.
Over the past year our projects have included:
- A “Garden Project” working with Eden House, Bristol
- Supported WaterAid’s “Everyone, Everywhere 2030” campaign to make Water and Sanitation a dedicated United Nations’ Global Sustainable Development Goal when the 15 year Goals were set last September, and lobbied local MPs to support this in Parliament
- Spend a Penny! Toilet Twinning with Muyebe in Uganda
- Supported a school in Lima
Does this interest you in becoming a Soroptimist? If so, jump into action and come to one of our meetings.
President Pauline and members of SI Bristol are always happy to welcome new members. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month. Please contact us if you would like to find out more.
