Message from new President Anne Munro

I am employed as a Senior Probation Officer working from the Nelson Office in the Pennine District for the Lancashire Probation Trust.   I am a family person and I love travelling.  I have been so fortunate to visit some fabulous countries.

I enjoy walking locally.  I love the area I live in and the local countryside.  I have a very active family and I enjoy baking which relaxes me.  I regularly feed my team cakes.

I hope I am a generous person and I am very much a ‘glass half full’ person and never look on the negative situation – there is always something to be learned from what life throws at you.  I don’t have time to be down in the dumps as I find it a waste of time.  I speak my mind and I don’t like bad manners which sometimes gets me into trouble – for example, a man was very rude to an assistant in a local bakery shop recently and I told him off for being horrid to her.

My charities are the Pendleside Hospice because of the amazing, worthwhile work  they do and the palliative care they gave to close relatives who needed ther service.  I will also be supporting the MS Society.  My husband ran in the London Marathon and raised over £2,500 for them.  I am so proud of his motivation and he is such an inspiring person to be around.  This will be my second term as an SI Burnley and I am very much looking forward to a year of working together to achieve the Soroptimists aims and objects.
