The 56th Annual Dinner of S.I. Cannock & District took place on 18th February at the Terrace Restaurant, Brownhills.
President Ronnie Reynolds welcomed over 70 members and their guests from the Midland Chase region and beyond.
Maurice Cryer, Assistant Governor of Rotary District 1210 proposed the toast to Soroptimist International. He praised the organisation for the outstanding work they do throughout the world to improve conditions for women and children.
The response was given by Region President Pat Cross, a member of SI Bilston, Cannock’s mother club. She spoke of the achievements of the club, Cannock & District, congratulating them for the actions they have taken over the last year. Region President Pat made particular reference to the support the members of S I Cannock give to projects in Africa run by two of their own club members: Action Kenya and crèches in the townships in Cape Town, South Africa.
Entertainment was provided by Black Country wordsmith David Bartley – and everyone understood everything he said! The audience were quickly involved and thoroughly enjoyed his stories and poems.
As she wished everyone Goodnight, President Ronnie thanked the Terrace Restaurant for all that they had done and the team of Soroptimists who had organised the successful 56thAnnual Dinner of the club.
