Friendship Links
Chelmsford has links with four other clubs: Naharia, in Israel; Paris Lutèce, in France; Bangalore, in India and Bad Oyenhausen/Wittekindsland in Germany.
Our oldest link is with the Naharia club. We formed a link with Paris Lutèce in 1999, with Bangalore in 2006 and with Bad Oeynhausen/Wittekindsland in 2008.
Friendship Link visit – Germany
The first two weeks of November were busy for the club. 0n 6 November several members journeyed to Bad Oeynhausen, in Germany, to help our Friendship Link club celebrate its 25th anniversary at a splendid banquet. It was a splendid trip, reinforcing the close ties we have with this, our newest Link.
The image left is how the German press covered the visit. Pictured are members from Bad Oeynhausen, together with members from their other Friendship Link clubs in France and Holland.
Friendship Link visit - France
The week after the visit to Germany, club members were off again, this time to Paris Lutèce, who was celebrating its 10th anniversary. These visits confirm the strong links we have with both clubs. The friendships formed and strengthened and the work that can be done together is extremely heartening.
Inaugural Visit
In September last year we had a most successful inaugural weekend visit from members of Bad Oyenhausen. We took them to the Templers’ barns at Cressing, where a medieval fayre was being staged, complete with jousting knights on horseback, before all meeting up for a buffet supper at our then President Elect’s home.
The following day they were treated to the best of British, traditional roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, followed by apple pies and custard. It was a very happy event.
