Crosby’s Soroptimists ‘took over’ the Rotarians’ Santa float for an evening in the run-up to Christmas and, once again, the route took them round Thornton. Local residents of all ages came out to wave to Santa, enjoy the Christmas music, and drop their small (and not so small) change into the collecting boxes. Santa spoke to the children who were led to the float and promised them all a visit on Christmas Eve.
At the end of a tiring evening everyone was able to relax over welcome refreshments at President Maggie’s, and then do the count-up. The grand total exceeded £380.
President Maggie said, “The evening was, as always, a great team effort. I should like to thank the President and members of the Crosby Rotary club for loaning us the float and dealing with logistics. The Thornton residents, as usual, gave Santa a very warm welcome. Thank you for your generosity: the money raised will all go to local good causes supported by SI Crosby.”
