Relentless rain did not prevent SI Crosby taking part in a successful community event for visually-impaired people.
An annual barbecue party is organised by the Soroptimists, Rotarians and Lions. The guests are members of the Sefton Society for the Visually Impaired, a local group that meets regularly for mutual support and friendship.
A cavalcade of cars brought the guests to the party. While the cooks still worked outdoors – though under cover – everyone else congregated indoors. Guests enjoyed good conversation, lively company and excellent food. The guide dogs (one working and two retired) coped serenely with the party atmosphere. Finally, the afternoon concluded with a sing-song and ‘Auld Lang Syne’.
Sandy Taylor, President of SI Crosby, said: “We are always pleased to work in partnership with our colleagues in Lions and Rotary. This was a well-organised, friendly and relaxed event, and we know that our guests really enjoyed themselves. Maybe next year the weather will be kinder!”
