Sefton Women’s and Children’s Aid

Soroptimists support victims of domestic violence and abuse.

The club has longstanding links with Sefton Women’s and Children’s Aid (SWACA).

For many years the club has had a representative on the Board, and thus had the opportunity to contribute towards the charity’s progress. The club also regularly donates money towards SWACA’s projects. Proceeds from the club’s Baggatelles sales (2011-20) all went to SWACA.

In recent years Crosby’s Soroptimists have put together packs of basic toiletries, nightwear, underwear and other items for women and young people who have to leave home in a hurry.

Pre-Covid some members help ‘behind the scenes’ in the stock-room at SWACA’s charity shop.

SWACA provides free and confidential support for all women and children experiencing domestic violence. Its services include a helpline, one-to-one support, solicitors’ surgeries, welfare/benefits advice, group work, a refuge and awareness training.

SI Crosby is proud to maintain its connections with SWACA.
