Croydon Club meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month (except August) 19:00 for 19:30. Unless otherwise stated, all meetings are held at the Shirley Park Golf Club, Addiscombe Road, Croydon CR0 7LB.

May 2012 and the start of the new Club Year and our programme
“Education: Science for Girls“ which will include women speakers from a variety of scientific backgrounds. We will also be fundraising for four ‘science’ awards to be given for projects submitted by Year 8 girls.

This is the first meeting of the new Club Year and Councillor Maggie Mansell will be launching our new programme. Cllr Mansell is passionate about encouraging young people to study science subjects and during her term as Mayor of Croydon, set up two successful projects in the Borough.
In our programme we are also including ‘My Job and Interests’ talks given by members. The first of these will be given by Sylvia Wachuku-King.
85th Anniversary Lunch

Today, Croydon Club celebrates its 85th Birthday. This year it was decided to hold a low-key event and we will be meeting at McDermott’s, The Forestdale Shopping Centre, Featherbed Lane, Croydon CR0 9AS [map link]. Our guest on this occasion is International Past President Hilary Page.

To set us off on our summer break, our guest speaker is Maria Michael, a biochemical engineer who has used her expertise to produce allergy-friendly cakes. From a small beginning preparing foods for her son who had multiple food allergies, Maria has developed thriving business making allergy-free cakes for all occasions.
