UKPAC Programme Action Award
SI East Grinstead Club is very proud to be the first recipient of this bi-annual award.
It was presented at the South East Regional meeting by Regional President Angela Howe to East Grinstead President Judi Bedingfield and Programme Action Officer Hilary Rowberry.
The criteria on which the award is based, covers one or more of the programme areas, including some elements of service with or without fund raising, and can be local, national or international with or without partners.
SI East Grinstead fulfilled all these requirements with their ongoing Ghana Project, which had won the Best Practice International Recognition Award 2005-2006 at the 72nd Conference in Newcastle Gateshead.
This project was set up in partnership with GEP Steering Committee, Tunbridge Wells Grammar School, the British High Commission in Ghana, Scholastic Blue Horizons and Marks and Spencer. It was chosen because it is an example of a project which has international dimension and it is focused on the provision of education in a very poor and underdeveloped region in Africa
