Pam Grosvenor, the club’s immediate past president, is pictured presenting a cheque for £2,000 to Pat Hewitt, left, of Portsmouth Alzheimer’s Society. The charity was one organisation to receive money raised during Pam’s year of office.
Mrs Hewitt said they were delighted with the donation.
“The money will be spent on our memory café, it’s a place where carers can drop in and relax with those they care for without having to worry about any embarrassing incidents.
“If someone turns the sugar bowl upside down nobody takes any notice.”
As well as being a meeting place, she said the café was able to provide information and advice to carers.
