Hospital charity given £800

A Southampton hospital charity is £800 better off thanks to a cruise around the Solent organised by club member Maureen Lowry.

More than 150 people enjoyed an evening afloat in August to raise funds for the Friends of the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Southampton General Hospital.

Now the money has been handed over to staff at the unit by president Rosemary Coward.

She is pictured with the cheque along with senior sister Pammy Modelly, sister Becky Wager and nurse Rosie Mitchell.

Also in the photograph are Soroptimists Pat Hanns, Ann Pibworth and Maureen Lowry, second from the right, alongside her husband Peter.

The unit cares for children – from babies to teenagers – who require intensive care following major surgery or trauma. They treat youngsters from throughout southern England.
