QUIZ fans from around Hampshire descended on Moby’s play centre in Fareham to have some fun at the club’s annual quiz night and to help raise money for charity.
Around 90 people packed into the play centre for the event.
The very able quizmaster Simon Tooley kept the audience on their toes with a name-the-celebrity photograph challenge as well as a variety of questions. These covered a range of topics including beer advertising slogans, pop songs from the sixties and a round on number-related questions eg To the nearest 1,000 miles what is the circumference of the earth at the equator? (Answer: 25,000).
There was good-natured competition between 15 teams battling to be winners. This accolade eventually went to a team calling themselves Jordan as one of their members had just returned from a holiday in the middle eastern country. They were Margaret Smith, president elect, and her husband Chris, Kay Mainwaring, club publicity officer, and her husband Courtney, and Lindsay Lamport and Tony White.
A raffle organised by Kathleen Durning raised £204 and helped to boost the amount raised during the evening to £644.
Proceeds will go to several charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, chosen by president Rosemary Coward to benefit from funds raised during her year of office.
