A new president is installed

The club has a new president  - she is Margaret Smith, pictured receiving the president’s regalia from immediate past president Rosemary Coward.

The new president, a Human Resources Adviser at Portsmouth University, said she planned to make changes in the way the club worked.

“I believe that we should always ask – why do we do it this way?”

She said she wanted to encourage more working in groups or project teams to give every member an opportunity to contribute while easing the burden on club officers.

As she worked full time she would not be able to commit as many hours to the role of president as others had done.

And as the club had no president elect she wanted to discuss new ways of doing things with the aim of encouraging members to stand for office.

“My year will be something of an experiment on ways to minimise the workload and make it manageable,” she said.
