Kites for Women’s Rights in Afghanistan
Programme action at Grange club usually has a serious purpose but members were able to have an enjoyable few minutes at the end of the November meeting, colouring kites in support of women’s rights in Afghanistan. Using the template from Amnesty members decorated kites which will be given to William Hague before the Bonnconference urging him not to trade away women’s rights at the peace negotiations. The Kite design was used as women in Afghanistan can make kites but not fly them.
Members were also sporting green scarves as this is the symbol of liberation for Afghan women.
