About our Club
Welcome to Soroptimist International Lewisham and South East London Club!
We meet once a month on the second Monday of the month. Our meetings run from 7pm – 9pm. Tea, coffee and biscuits are served during the evening and we often have a guest speaker and always have a raffle!
As well as our monthly meetings, we also hold fundraising events around the local area including quiz nights, concerts, garden parties and lunches. We have also taken to the streets in Catford to raise money and awareness of Water Aid and this year we ran a tombola stand at Lewisham People’s Day in July 2011. Our charity this year is Eaves who support and provide temporary homes for women who have been subjected to violence, trafficking or prostitution. (See the latest edition of Eaves newsletter for pictures of the toiletries we collected for them).
One of our members – Hilary Page, is actively involved in the No Women No Peace campaign. You can see her in their latest video “Help Women in Conflict” filmed as part of the International Women’s Day celebrations in March 2011.
We meet up regularly for supper at a local restaurant or in each other’s homes- to socialise and get to know each other better.
We’re a small but friendly group and welcome any newcomers to come and join us. If you would like to find out more about us, get in touch via our contact page or come along to our next meeting. You will be made to feel you are with friends. We have friendship links with Enniskillen (GB), Land Berlin (D), Shepparton (Aus) and Strand (N).
