Our Federation Councillor
Our Federation Councillor 2010-2012 – Joyce Boorman
Hello to you all in the Region and thank you for voting for me to succeed Ineke Morris as your Councillor to the Federation following the Federation Conference in Manchester in October. I must say special thanks to my own Club, Ipswich, for proposing me and to SI Sudbury for seconding my nomination. I hope I will be worthy of your support and meet the challenges ahead.
For those who don’t really know me I have been a Soroptimist since 1979 – joining the Eastbourne Club. Since then I have been a member of SI Maidstone, SI Sutton, SI Epsom and now SI Ipswich.
Over those years I have gained wide experience of SIGBI and Soroptimism. The organisation has developed in many ways to meet demands of a changing world and I would like contribute to its possible re-shaping as SI approaches its first centenary.
Members of Clubs and Regions are the Federation’s life blood and it is the duty of Councillors to ensure that concerns, issues and good news are passed to Federation Officers and fellow Councillors for discussion, debate and action. I believe I have the skills and experience to make a positive contribution. I have an interest in constitution, procedures and policies and have put several motions to Conference, demonstrating the way in which any member can have a say.
I would be a source of information for the Region and Clubs and act as a gateway for two way communication with the Federation.
I very much look forward to working with you all.
