President’s Message
Dear Members and Friends,
I am delighted and honoured to accept the responsibility of becoming President of Soroptimist International of Central and South West London Club. I pledge to work collaboratively with all members, friends and affiliates to make this a highly successful year which will be enjoyable, educational and foster the ideals of Soroptimism.
The theme for 2011/12 will be Women in Education. To this end we have organised a Programme of Speakers, who are each in their own ways inspirational women who have influenced policies and the role of Women in Society.
I would also like to achieve the following aims:
· Re-launch “Woman in the Community Award” this is a good way to publicise the work of Sorroptimist International and the work of the unsung heroine in the community. Also this is a good means of encouraging new members.
· Enlist the assistance of more willing volunteers in increasing the profile of Soroptimism through mini projects.
· Strengthen the friendship links with academic and other units linked with Education, including more local links possibly with Women’s’ Refuges, Social Services etc in the Westminster Area. I intend to make contact with the Head of our Local school to see if we can assist in literacy schemes. I also wish to contact the Lord Mayor of Westminster, Councillor Judith Warner and invite her to become an honorary member.
· Improve communications within the club by involving more members and encourage job sharing/ shadowing.
· Information to be conveyed on club activities and events in a diary page so that people without e mail would be advised at the same time.
· Strengthen club links with media/marketing services for prompt widespread dissemination of information.
· Ensure relevant policies and guidelines are adhered to and updated to govern all our actions.
· Foster additional links with Soroptimist Groups from abroad.
Above all I seek your help, support and guidance in making this a highly successful and friendly club which fosters the ideals of the Soroptimist Organisation world wide.
Once again I would like to thank you for your support and commitment to Soroptimism and the Central and West London club.
