President’s message

I have been a member of Newbury club for nearly 20 years and this is my second year as President.

I’m sure I shall enjoy this year as much as I enjoyed last year. Some highlights from last year were our very successful Pancake Races where SI Newbury contributed in the organising of the Races, and making and dishing out of pancakes!

We were invited to attend the Mayor – Making ceremony and Remembrance Day Parade in Newbury and handed over a cheque for £1000 to the Alzheimer’s Society at our Annual Lunch.

My chosen charity for this year is the Tissue Bank for the Breast Cancer Research Campaign.

Our members are committed to Programme Action and we enjoy many social and fundraising events.

We are always happy to welcome new members to join us, and have a ver busy calendar with two meetings a month. Naturally not everyone makes every meeting, but we have many events to keep us interested. We run a Bonus Ball every week which invokes a bit of fun as well as raising funds, and we have time for coffee and catch up when we have our meetings.

We are hoping to establish a second Friendship Link soon, currently we have Arras in Northern France but are looking to renew our friendship there. Our members also attend Region meetings and a few attend Conference each year – I will be going to Brighton in October 2011.

In friendship
