Regional Church Service

SI Blackpool and District were pleased to host member and Regional President Jean Priestley’s International Day Service on 4th December at the Methodist Church in Poulton le Fylde. Despite the rather windy conditions prevailing over the region, the service was well attended by members from clubs throughout the Region.

The welcome and address given by the Reverent Barrie Lees was both entertaining and thought provoking, recalling childhood memories for those attending.  Readings during the service were given by Regional President Elect– Susan Parke-Hatton, joint SI Blackpool presidents Mavis Rostron and Linda Marr and SI Blackpool’s PA officer Julie Patel.

Members and guests enjoyed an excellent tea and get together following the service. The help and assistance provided by the Methodist Church for both the service and the tea afterwards was much appreciated by all who had attended the Service. The collection raised £270.00, divided between Regional President Jean’s charity SPACE and Poulton Methodist Church.

On 25 September a number of Soroptimists, friends and dogs met in Garstang  for a pleasant
walk.  The weather was excellent; a warm, dry day after weeks of windy rain.  Two of the walkers were using ‘trampers’ – motorised vehicles that allow people with walking difficulties to enjoy the countryside.  After the walk everyone enjoyed afternoon tea prepared by members of SI Garstang
