Penrith in Pink

Recently a group of Penrith Soroptimists took on the challenge of walking six miles setting off at Midnight! It was all in aid of the Eden Valley Hospice, the Club’s chosen charity.

When the day came the weather was truly atrocious; in fact flood warnings had been issued for the area after several days of torrential rain.

However, the seven intrepid walkers were not deterred and set off, along with eight hundred other women (this Moonlight Memory Walk was for women only), and completed the route in less than two hours. No doubt the speed at which some completed the distance was encouraged by the relentless rain on the night.

The magnificent sum of £732 was raised by the team who dubbed themselves “The Sprightly Sisters”.
