About our Club

The SI Oxford Club was founded in 1956 and chartered in 1958.

We meet in-person at The Coach House, Quarry Road, Headington, Oxford, with some meetings online via Zoom.

For in-person meetings we meet from 6.30pm and enjoy a cup of tea and a catch up before our speaker at 7.00pm. We are usually finished by 9pm. Zoom meetings will start shortly before 7pm and typically last 1-hour.

During these talks we often hear from charities, organisations and local causes which compliment our goals as Soroptimists to improve the status of women and girls internationally through education, empowerment or enabling opportunities. In the past we have enjoyed talks from Action Aid, OXCAT (Oxford Community Against Trafficking), Pets as Therapy, Refugee Resource, Plan International, Dementia Friends and many others.

To see photos and write-ups from recent meetings and events, have a look at our Recent and Past Events pages.

We also discuss matters of the club, such as progress with charities and upcoming events.

We currently have ~25 members of different ages and very different professions. They are not only Soroptimists, but mothers, carers and professional women. They take a very active part in their local communities, spread widely in towns and villages, some at some distance. We are now more informed about many other local womens’ groups who specialise in different aspects of our motivation, via a recently formed network of co-operation.

As an International Organisation, we at Oxford and District Club are proud to have Friendship Links with fellow Soroptimist sisters in Leiden (the Netherlands), Lucerne (Switzerland), Marmara (Turkey), Bonn (Germany), and Madurai (India).
