Project Work

 Soroptimists undertake service projects locally, nationally and internationally.

It is the reason why many of us are members and it is the linchpin of our organisation and what makes us different from other organisations.We act locally but think globally.  Through awareness, advocacy and action, Soroptimists work in the following areas:

In Preston  :

We run a Drop In Cafe at Kingsfold Library in Penwortham for anyone who feels isolated or needs a bit of company and a chat.  There’s cake too!

We are a member of PAN LANCASHIRE ANTI SLAVERY PARTNERSHIP and support as many MDS events as we can.

We provide giftbags for the homeless at Christmas via the Salvation Army.

We have filled ‘preloved’ handbags with toiletries and other ‘girly’ items to send to women refugees who are now living in Turkey or Greece.

We have lobbied local MPs and County Councillors over funding for Domestic Violence refuges, Landmines and Human Trafficking
