President’s message

I am particularly pleased to take over as President of the club in this its 50th year of existence and look forward very much to the celebrations we will be having to celebrate the Golden Anniversary.  Although I am a relatively new member, I have been aware of this club for all my life as my god-mother was a long time member who told me all about the work of Soroptimist International so I was delighted to be able to join the club.

This year I have nominated Plan International as my charity  www.plan-uk.org.  Some years ago I was able to travel extensively in South America and was horrified to discover the level of child poverty that existed.  Since then I have helped to support a child through Plan International and I am hoping that in the coming year we will be able to help more children though the work of this charity.

At the Annual General Meeting we were able to welcome two new members to the club and I hope very much that more will be joining us during the year.  I am always delighted to meet prospective members at our monthly meetings.
