About our Club
Welcome to the website of Soroptimist International of Southampton and District.
Our Club was chartered in October 1952 so this year we are celebrating our 60th anniversary!
We currently have 31 members from a wide cross-section of backgrounds.
We meet on the 3rd Tuesday of every month for a meal at Fleming Park in Eastleigh at 6.45pm for 7pm. At this meeting we socialise over dinner, forge friendships, discuss issues, and enjoy the knowledge and expertise of a visiting speaker. The speakers are chosen by the President to provide an interesting, informative, and often thought provoking window on local, national and international topics.
There are also a number of Business meetings scheduled to discuss business relating to the Club, Region and any international matters which we have received from our Federation Office. These also provide the opportunity for all members of the club to share information and discuss projects they are involved in, fund-raising activities, social events and to further develop friendships. This year, some of these meetings will also include an invited speaker.
The current venue for our Business meetings is the Parlour at St James Road Methodist Church in Shirley, Southampton.
Click on Programme 2012/2013 for dates of all these meetings and details of the speakers for the Dinner meetings.
Besides these programmed meetings, members get together as Project Groups in their own homes to work on the Club’s various projects. See the link on the left to learn more about these. A group of retired members, the Interlink Committee, meet regularly once a month for coffee and to undertake valuable practical activities.
