Update to CI clubs transfer

Update to CI clubs transfer

During April there was some progress on the potential transfer of Channel Islands clubs, Guernsey and Jersey, to Southern England region.  The key points are: SI Guernsey and SI Jersey want to move into our region, and we are happy to have them; This is on track to happen from the next regional year starting in November 2026; We will gain about 60 members for the region, and a wealth of PAC projects; We will need to support them in the costs of airfares for attending regional meetings, but can take a phased approach to this, starting with £4 extra on the regional levy for next regional year (so it goes from £6 to £10 for November 2026); It will take a few years to settle down but we expect to need to increase the regional levy by an extra £4 each year for a

New Faces, New Ideas

New Faces, New Ideas

New Faces, New Ideas is the regional theme for 2025-2026.  It reflects the changes in the make-up of the Regional Management Team, and the potential for changes in how the region is run. Added to those pictured at the AGM, there are Bobbie and Olein who will be leading PAC for the region.  They had hoped for a third helper on their team, so if that’s you, please get in touch. We look forward to an inspirational year, with meetings hosted by Winchester, Solent East and Weybridge during 2026.

On Sunday 14 September we held our regional meeting, hosted by SI Woking at Pine Ridge Golf Club. The meeting included our 58th Annual General Meeting. We said thank you to Kay, Sue and Julie who stepped down from their current roles in the Regional Management Team. We welcomed Kate, Alison, Cathy and Julie (back again!) to the RMT for 2025/26, and took our photo for the change of insignia at conference. We hope to welcome a small group to act as PAC for region shortly too (Bobbie, Olein +OneOther?).

Winchester Soroptimists invite you to a talk on the Post Office Scandal – Thursday October 23rd 2025. The ITV drama “Mr Bates vs the Post Office” catapulted the Post Office Horizon Scandal into the spotlight last year, highlighting the many years of injustice and trauma experienced by sub-postmasters across the country. Despite this and the subsequent enquiry, many sub-postmasters are still waiting for compensation, and the fight for justice continues. On Thursday October 23rd, come and listen to Barbara Jeremiah JP MSc and Dr Kay Linnell OBE, who have both been working with sub-postmasters and campaigning for justice. As accountants and members of the Justice for Postmasters alliance respectively, Barbara has been involved for over 20 years, and Kay over 14, in seeking redress for those affected. Come and hear all about their work in advocating for restitution and continuing in the battle for compensation
