Carol singing success to mark Human Rights Day

57-Carols2014

This year’s annual Soroptimist Christmas carols and bucket rattling at St Albans City Station was a great success raising more than £400 for the St Albans and Hertsmere Women’s Refuge

Commuters were as generous as ever in spite of suffering severe train delays that evening. Recent funding cuts and increased demand mean that the Refuge needs additional funding now more than ever before.

This event is timed to mark Human Rights Day when Soroptimists all around the world take action www.un.org/en/events/humanrightsday

Over a warming supper Club Members made donations of £115 to the International President’s annual December 10th appeal “See Solar, Cook Solar” in lieu of sending one another Christmas cards – see the website for more information: www.soroptimistinternational.org/our-projects/december-10-appeal/see-solar-cook-solar

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy and peaceful new year.
