President Cindy and the Mayor of Stratford-upon-Avon (better known to us as club member Shelagh Sandle) were delighted to be present when Sophie Mustoe won the public speaking competition organised by SI Midland Arden Region on 9th March 2011. Sophie is a pupil at the Cotswold School and was sponsored by our club. Described as a clear winner she expanded on her chosen theme of ‘Freedom is like the ocean because…’ and her performance earned her a cheque for £150.00. Catrin Vincent from Kenilworth School & Sports College and Charlotte Haynes from Augustine High School Redditch spoke on the theme ‘Courage is…’ and came a worthy second and third respectively. All speakers inspired the audience with their amazing presentations and speaking skills. All contestants were regarded as winners and each received a certificate of achievement and a book token for £25.00 from the Soroptimist Club that sponsored them. The annual event was held at the University of Warwick, Coventry.
