These included three residents and two leaders from a local Methodist church.

Members took the visitors to lunch before Tamworth Mayor, Jeremy Oates, entertained them at the own Hall where the visitors were fascinated by the building and especially the display of the town’s silver.

The guests then visited the Castle grounds before going to St Editha’s Church.

Tamworth Soroptimists’ recent gathering saw them hold a “Super Tramps Supper and Beetle Drive Evening”. Member and guests dressed up a “tramps”. “It was a wonderful fun night,” said SI Tamworth member Gwyneth Brown. “Everybody enjoyed their Ploughman’s Supper and a very competitive beetle drive. Pictured are president Jackie Edwards and husband Keith who won the individual “best male tramp” prize. President elect Vicky Vernon who won “best female tramp”.

In December members decorated a Christmas tree for the St Edith’s church display.

Our theme was Involvement of Soroptimists throughout the world. The tree was decorated with flags and yellow and blue ribbon.

A Poppy Party for the 90th Anniversary of the Royal British Legion took place at President Jackie’s home on Saturday June 11th.  We were ably assisted by members of  1122 Marmion Squadron ATC and Tamworth Sea Cadets who helped to keep the party running smoothly!

The event raised £380 and this wonderful cake, decorated with poppies. was one of the raffle prizes.

Sunday June 26th was the 63rd Charter Luncheon of the club, held at Drayton Manor Park. The day started with some wonderful singing from members of Two Gates Community Primary School Choir. It set the mood for what proved to be a lovely occasion. The top table with the Mayor and Mayoress of Tamworth.
