The President and members of Soroptimist International of the Fylde welcome you to their  website and hope you enjoy reading about the work of the local branch of this international organisation.

The Fylde coast is a wonderful area situated on the north west coast of Lancashire, just a stone’s throw from Blackpool.

Soroptimist International of the Fylde is part of the global Soroptimist International organisation. A women’s organisation — its goal is to make the world a better place for women and children. Each club achieves this goal through awareness, advocacy and action within 5 different project areas that include learning opportunities, environmental sustainability, economic empowerment, food security and healthcare, violence and conflict resolution.

The Fylde coast is famous for strong winds, a well restored windmill, a magnificent spacious green on the esplanade, and for occasionally hosting the British Open Golf Championship. It is less well known, but equally important, for International Sandyacht racing and an estuary of international importance for migrating birds.

Lytham St Annes is the chosen retirement area of many professional and military notables. The twin communities of Lytham and St Annes are a world apart from the bright lights of Blackpool – the resort is renowned for being refined, and reserved and, with its wonderful sand dunes and long beaches, provides a safe haven for old and young alike.

Soroptimist International of the Fylde has been in existence for 75 years and will be celebrating its 75th anniversary on 10 November this year!  If you want any further information or wish to know more about our group, please contact us via this website and we shall be delighted to help.
