Our club was chartered in 1973 and so we recently celebrated our 40th anniversary.

We are a small club of 17 members. We meet monthly at the Chase Hotel, Inkerman Terrace, Whitehaven CA28 8AA, on the 4th Monday of the month, at 7.30pm unless we have arranged a different activity.

We enjoy theatre visits, coffee mornings and raising money for charities and meeting together, as well as maintaining our interest in the world wide work of Soroptimist International We welcomed members from the other clubs in the Northern Region to our 40th birthday celebration on a very wet Saturday in May 2013.

At the Gateshead Conference 2013

Several members usually attend the Annual Conference, which moves around the country to various venues, able to accommodate 1500 women.Last year we were in Glasgow .We enjoyed an address from the Princess Royal.. Key note speakers included Dame Stella Rimington former director of MI5 and Sarah Montague of the Today programme..

We also have meetings twice a year with other Cumbrian Clubs. This normally takes the form of a lunch, short business meeting and a speaker.

Our club is one of 14 clubs in the Soroptimist International Northern England region. In March 2014 our club will host a seminar on Community sentencing at the Regional Meeting. These meetings are held 4 times a year, usually at Hexham.
