JANETTE Ward spoke to Keighley Soroptimists about WRAP, the Wellness Recovery Action Plan, which is about creating a plan to look after the whole person.
Mary Ellen Copeland, a lady who suffered with bi-polar disorder, otherwise known as manic depression, wanted something better for people with mental health problems than hospital admission and being sent home with medication.
Together with other sufferers, she came up with a plan which was individual to each person, and set goals to be reached as well as more self-esteem. People with mental health problems feel compassion for others.
Janette outlined the wellness tools, a list of the things you do that make you feel good, as it is important that you put yourself first in order to successfully be able to cope with everyday life.
