SWINDON Soroptimists joined a march against domestic abuse.
The Swindon group’s president Valerie Nuttall and member Lydia Cardew took part in the annual Railing Against Abuse event in Weston Super Mare with 40 other Soroptimists from south west clubs.
The group marched to Grove Park while handing out bookmarks which highlight examples of good and bad traits in a relationship, then watched the mayor unveil a new statue, created by Soroptimist member Anne Wooley, which commemorated women killed by domestic abusers.
They all dressed in orange to highlight the United Nations’ day for the elimination of violence against women.
Members of Victim Support and Citizens Advice joined them and helped put orange ribbons on the fountain railings to commemorate the UN Day and victims of domestic abuse.
