Well March has arrived and we are a quarter of the way into our Federation year, 2019 to 2020, and the implementation of our plans to increase our voice and visibility.
There are some key activities that we have been planning for many months, one of which is our attendance at the sixty-fourth session of the Commission on the Status of Women which was due to take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 9 to 20 March.
It is hugely disappointing that it has been cancelled due to the Coronavirus threat. There is a hope that it can be rearranged for later in the year. It is such an important two weeks in the strategy for advancing gender equality.
We do have many grassroots events planned across our Federation to support International Women’s Day on the 8th March celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and this year the acceleration of gender equality https://sigbi.org/search/international+women%27s+day. Our social media campaign is already underway using the #IWD2020 and #EachforEqual.
Thank you all for the work that you are doing and the difference you are making to the lives of others.
