ILKLEY Soroptimists have donated home starter packs to a Keighley Refuge and have been given an overview of life at the Refuge.
They heard there are five to ten referrals for every place, with an age range from 17 to 78. Women are assessed in terms of their risk of harm and death. A toiletries pack and clean fresh bedding is there on arrival and food is supplied through the refuge. When women are able to move on to social housing they are given a new bed, new bed linen, a microwave and a fridge freezer from the Phoenix Fund.
The home starter packs include kitchen essentials, duvets, cleaning equipment and are put together by voluntary organisations such as Soroptimists.
