Since 2015 SI Weston-Super-Mare have held this event (Soroptimists Railing Against Abuse) on November 25th – the UN Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The aim is to draw attention to the issue of Domestic Abuse and to distribute Loves Me/Loves Me Not bookmarks as widely as possible. The day involves travelling by train and marching through the streets, all the while distributing bookmarks; and listening to speakers on the topic. Many clubs from the SW Region have joined us each year.

This year the event will take place in Swindon on November 23rd and is being organised by SI Swindon. It is open to any Soroptimist who would like to participate. Swindon is a railway hub and we shall be meeting at the railway station then moving on to STEAM, the railway museum. The more people who take part, the more attention we draw to this cause.

Any club or individual who does wish to take part is asked to contact Melanie David to get more details as time goes on.
