Garden Party July 2015

On rising ground in a loop of the River Amber, Wingfield Park Hall was the delightful setting for the Annual Garden Party of Soroptimist International Amber Valley.
After a rainy morning, a glorious afternoon brought the crowds to browse the many stalls and enjoy cream teas in the sunshine. President Anne Woollett welcomed guests, and husband Tony entertained small children with his Magic and Conjuring.
The Cake Stall soon sold out, and brisk business took place at the Tombola, Bottle and Bric-a-Brac Stalls. Discerning folk shopped early for Christmas at the stall laden with hand-made goods in support of a Nursery and School in the Gambia. Among many other attractions, a Romany caravan fascinated visitors, and the Ripley Girl Guide Stall delighted them with prizes of Soft Toys.
Guests lingered all afternoon, sitting among the flowers and chatting to old friends and acquaintances. At the end of the afternoon, hostess Vi Shaw, helped by willing son, served ice cream cones to the eager throng.
