July 2016

President Carol Evans welcomed Rev. Kevin Charles to the July meeting of Soroptimist International of Amber Valley, to talk about Chaplaincy in the Ambulance Service.

The Rev. Kev, as he is known amongst his comrades, has been in the Ambulance Service for 36 years, as a Paramedic and in other capacities. He was ordained 5 years ago in Southwell Cathedral, and as well as his pioneer ministry with the East Midlands Ambulance Service has a parish in Kirby in Ashfield.

The August meeting of SI Amber Valley will start outdoors with a walk along the Cromford Canal followed by supper at the Family Tree Restaurant, Whatstandwell. At the September meeting we are looking forward to a talk on the ‘National Garden Scheme’.
