Progamme Action<\/span><\/h1>\n

Also known as ‘Project Activity’<\/span><\/h2>\n

Programme Action is the ‘raison d’etre’ and at the heart of Soroptimism and all our projects and campaigns are intrinsically linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals [SDG’s]. \u00a0Soroptimists worldwide work to Educate, Empower and Enable women and girls to achieve and unlock their potential in every area of their lives.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ongoing Projects<\/h1>\n

SI Anglesey Members are keen recyclers and where we see an opportunity to recycle, up-cycle or donate unwanted items to a deserving cause we go for it!\u00a0 It is an opportunity for all members to get involved whether it is donating their bras for recycling or to Smalls for All, or washing their bottle tops to be made into pin cushions or sustainable packaging and saving ring pulls.<\/p>\n

Our members are encouraged to collect and bring to Club meetings the following items for recycling or donation to other charities:<\/p>\n

Toiletries, baby supplies for Refuge and Food Banks<\/p>\n

Toiletries, socks, underwear, scarves, gloves for the Homeless Charity Digartref Ltd<\/p>\n

Bras for recycling and donation to charities<\/p>\n

Collecting stamps<\/p>\n

Plastic bottle tops and ring pulls<\/p>\n

Spectacles, hearing aids<\/p>\n

We collect small change to support Toilet twinning and also hold an annual Charity Shop 5 day sale.<\/p>\n

Helping the Homeless<\/h2>\n

Homelessness is becoming a major problem throughout the UK and SI Anglesey work with Digartref Ltd to ease the burden on both the organisation and the homeless. The Club\u00a0 supplies those items which contain everything a person suddenly finding themselves homeless might need, and includes sleepwear, clean underwear and toiletries.\u00a0 At Christmas members contribute various items, including small gifts, that Digartref clients might enjoy and find useful.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Breast Cancer Awareness<\/h2>\n

In light of consultation with Ysbyty Gwynedd,\u00a0 SI Anglesey members are now sewing mastectomy cushions, which are being produced for patients at Ysbyty Gwynedd.\u00a0 It is estimated that there are around 10 mastectomy patients required each week and Club is aiming to produce enough to cope with the demand. We hold regular awareness session too in a range of localities<\/p>\n

\nIt was decided that both these projects would be adopted by Club as part of its service to the community.<\/p>\n
