Public Speaking Competition 2013

On 21st November 2013 Ballymoney and District Club held their heat of the annual Public Speaking Competition in The Tweed Room at The Robinson Memorial Hospital,

The judges for the evening were Olive Harvey, Dr Pamela Young MBE and Carolyn Maxwell.

There were 22 entrants from 6 schools, a lot more than usual due to Coleraine Club not holding a heat this year. The schools represented were

Ballycastle High school (3),Cross and Passion, Ballycastle (2),St Pius X, Magherafelt (4), Rainey Endowed (3), St Mary’s Magherafelt (5), and Coleraine High School (5)

President Elizabeth McFetridge thanked the girls for taking part and congratulated them on a very closely fought competition.

Olive Harvey as Chair of the Judges, gave a brief resume of the judges comments and then presented the prizes to the first 3 places. She congratulated all the entrants and wished the winner, Shannon Donnelly, good luck for the next round of the competition which will be held at Glenlola Collegiate School, Bangor on 22nd February 2014.

The prizes were awarded as follows.

1st Shannon Donnelly St Mary’s Grammar School

2nd Lucy Lamont Coleraine Girls High School

3rd Annie O’Loane St Mary’s Grammar School
