  1. Teddy bears picnic \/ treasure hunt. A fund raiser and all teddies were given to local dementia units.<\/li>\n
  2. Purchased the construction of a well in Cambodia so that families can benefit from a clean water well that we have funded. This ensures their future\u00a0health. We have now\u00a0bought four wells.<\/li>\n
  3. Each year some of the members attend the Llangollen eisteddfod and promote the work of Soroptimists in our tent. Ciss and Enid regularly went on our behalf.<\/li>\n
  4. Summer supper is a fund raising event for Ty Gobaith \u00a0organised by Jenny and Vicki. Jenny also had a plant sale.<\/li>\n
  5. Festival 6 – members collect discarded items which include Tents: Sleeping Bags; Insulating Mats; Camping chairs; Tent Pegs and a large amount of food. As much as we can carry. Everything that is collected is taken to St Mary’s hostel for the homeless in Bangor.<\/li>\n
  6. Seize the sandwich – members travelling to the annual Soroptimist Conference, this year held in Cardiff, ensured that excess lunchtime sandwich packs were distributed to the homeless in Cardiff for the duration of the event.<\/li>\n
  7. Member Sian Kent was given permission to set up a display about Trafficking and slavery for a week at our local library. Members of the public were asked to fill out a questionnaire and given information about the current situation in our area.<\/li>\n
  8. Throughout the winter months\u00a0members take soup to the St Mary’s hostel in Bangor to help feed those on the streets.<\/li>\n
  9. This year members were asked to bring in any unwanted\u00a0complimentary toiletries they may have picked up in hotels\u00a0when they go on holiday. These were then shared out and put into donated draw string bags so that we could give 11 to the local refuge ( 4 for the current residents and 7 for new residents when they arrived. )\u00a0 and 12 given to families in the community supported by Women’s Aid.<\/li>\n
  10. We also gave a bag of Christmas food ( Biscuits, Christmas pudding , mince pies, custard and chocolates) to all the women in the refuge and community.<\/li>\n
  11. Hats, scarves, warm socks, gloves and chocolate bars were collected for distribution to St Mary’s homeless hostel<\/li>\n
  12. Christmas Fayre was held to raise money for the Club’s \u00a0President Fund<\/li>\n
  13. Chocolate Tombolas were held at Ysbyty Gwynedd<\/li>\n
  14. 26 backpacks were put together for Mary’s Meals – a charity that distributes the backpacks to school age children in Africa.<\/li>\n
  15. Members have been asked to collect pulls from drinks cans. These will be sent to Malaysia where they are used they make handbags and purses that are then sold in this country. The women and girls\u00a0that make the bags used to scavenge on rubbish tips but now they can make the bags in a safe and healthy environment and make a living thus improving their lives dramatically.<\/li>\n
  16. Members are collecting\u00a0plastic bottle tops. Local authorities do not recycle these tops but the cosmetics company Lush accepts them and recycles them into boxes for carrying goods.<\/li>\n
  17. Saturday of Service day. Alecs, our member who plays the harp, entertained residents at a local residential home with a dementia unit, with a variety of pieces and songs so that visiting members and residents could join in.<\/li>\n
  18. Our President Gwen has walked the length of Offa’s Dyke walk as a \u00a0sponsored fundraiser for her President’s fund supporting Bangor Samaritans and a local young person’s homeless charity -GISDA.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
