On Saturday 29th October 2016 SI Barry and District held a Christmas Craft Fair at All Saints Church, Penarth.
It was well supported by local crafters including a Bear Doctor, Artisan glass wares, cakes, chutneys, wild bird boxes and many more wonderful handmade creations. Homemade refreshments were served and lots of local residents attended purely for a tasty lunch and a natter !
At present £824 has been raised, although there are still kind donations being received and items to be sold such as a vintage handbag that was donated by one of our members.
It was a wonderful day which was enjoyed by all who attended.
Conker Cancer Walk
Partner: Breast Cancer Now
On a lovely October 2016, afternoon we enjoyed the company of members of S I Barry and District, their dogs, friends and families in a 5k stroll to support the Breast Cancer Now second annual Conker Cancer Walk in Porthkerry Park marking Breast Cancer Awareness month in October. For a number of years the Club has supported Breast Cancer charities because several members have had personal experience of this disease. The aim was to fundraise for Breast Cancer Now and raise awareness., both of which involved tying a pink ribbon to a conker tree.
This year in particular we walked hard to support Pam Allinson, whose initiative this was.Afterwards tea and coffee, with homemade scones (3 types!) and jams were provided by Mary in her lovely home.
President Pat reminds us that if we couldn’t join and walk this year there is always next year!
Walking always involves talking!
