We all like giving and helping others, so we have partnered with the charity Compassion<\/em> Belfast <\/em>(https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/compassionbelfast<\/a>) to leave a Conference legacy.\u00a0 Compassion Belfast<\/em> aims to relieve poverty, advance community development, improve social welfare and offer relief to those in need regardless of age, race, gender and political or religious opinion.<\/p>\n

So, what have we got to do? They would be grateful for donations of toiletries for both men and women (especially deodorant, shampoo and shower gel).\u00a0 They would also be pleased to have sanitary items, socks and underwear (both new of course).\u00a0 Look on the Conference website to see if other items are required.<\/p>\n

Our food bank is experiencing a higher than usual demand and our stocks are running quite low so if your colleagues could donate toiletry items such as Deodorant (Male & Female) \/ Shower Gel \/ Shampoo \/ Toothpaste \/ Tooth Brushes \/ Female Sanitary products \/ Nappies (size 4 and 5) and newborn baby cleaning products that would be incredibly helpful as these items are not donated in the same quantity as food. (note added 11 October 2022).<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The charity will have dump bins to receive your donations and banners in the ICC foyer on Saturday of Conference.\u00a0 Don\u2019t worry if you are only bringing hand luggage as there is a chemist about 500 metres from the ICC to buy toiletries.\u00a0 But they will gladly accept money donations so that they can buy what is needed.<\/p>\n

Compassion Belfast<\/em> fulfils its aims through:<\/p>\n

The Living Room:<\/strong>\u00a0a relaxing caf\u00e9-style space where those who are facing social or economic poverty are welcomed, to receive compassionate and practical support.<\/p>\n

Fun In A Box:<\/strong>\u00a0free street parties for families, running in the summer months, throughout socially deprived areas of Belfast.<\/p>\n

Compassion Walks:<\/strong>\u00a0an outreach providing practical help to rough sleepers and the homeless community in Belfast.<\/p>\n

New To You:<\/strong>\u00a0charity shop providing donated clothing and furniture to those in need known to us through The Living Room and Compassion Walks. The shop also generates funds through the sale of donated items.<\/p>\n

Base Project:<\/strong>\u00a0a project studio and creative facility equipping people to tell their story through arts and media, providing formal music education to those who may not otherwise have the opportunity.<\/p>\n

Side By Side:<\/strong>\u00a0group events and activities for individuals experiencing the poverty of loneliness and social exclusion.<\/p>\n

The Tool Box:<\/strong>\u00a0a space where men pursue practical interests, learn and share skills, gain a sense of achievement and enjoy social interaction.<\/p>\n

Project Christmas Box:<\/strong>\u00a0Christmas gifts and food hampers are given annually to assist households struggling with financial hardship.<\/p>\n
