It was a great conference with excellent speakers giving members the opportunity to meet old friends and make new ones. We were delighted to meet with Friendship Links of SI Brixham and North Jamaica.<\/p>\n<p>Club members were thrilled to receive the Best Practice Award for Food Security and Healthcare for our cardiac screening project.<br \/>\nCongratulations to our daughter club Cannock for their Best Practice Award in the category of Education.<br \/>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1585754669653{margin-top: 30px !important;margin-bottom: 30px !important;}&#8221;][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;1998&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;2006&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;2007&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4>Federation Conference -Cardiff 2017<\/h4>\n<p>Eleven members travelled to Cardiff for the week-end of the Federation Conference and were joined by four other members including President Ann James for the Friday. It was a very inspiring Conference enjoyed by us all. Mandy Hickson, the second female Fast Jet Tornado Pilot and Dame Katherine Grainger, GB\u2019s most decorated female Olympian, gave most inspirational presentations sharing passion &amp; humour. Both speakers have excelled in their chosen careers and are excellent role models. Michael Kaufman, co founder of the White Ribbon Campaign, (gender equality) opened the conference and laid an excellent foundation for the rest of the conference.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Team Bilston\u2019, in usual fashion, enjoyed fun, friendship and camaraderie. We met up with old friends and made new contacts. It was an absolute delight to meet up with past member Margaret Inett, now a member of SI Brixham, Devon who was accompanied by her two Soroptimist daughters, Jane and Sue.<\/p>\n<p>It was a most thought provoking week-end with a celebration of Soroptimism at it\u2019s best and the wonderful work undertaken by members from all over the Federation.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1585754669653{margin-top: 30px !important;margin-bottom: 30px !important;}&#8221;][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;1838&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;1839&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;1840&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Federation Conference 2019 -Bournemouth<\/p>\n<p>As usual a group of Bilston members (9) attended the Federation Conference in Bournemouth.\u00a0 Our chosen hotel was some distance from the Conference centre and therefore we didn&#8217;t see much of Bournemouth, particularly as the weather was somewhat unkind to us.\u00a0 However, the speakers were excellent\u00a0 including Katie a 15 year old girl who had suffered mental health issues until she travelled to Zambia with Charity Toilet Twinning and met a young girl whose life was so basic.<a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/bilston-and-district\/files\/2020\/10\/Bournemouth-Conference-2019.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-4542\" src=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/bilston-and-district\/files\/2020\/10\/Bournemouth-Conference-2019-300x133.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"133\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/bilston-and-district\/files\/2020\/10\/Bournemouth-Conference-2019-300x133.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/bilston-and-district\/files\/2020\/10\/Bournemouth-Conference-2019.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a> We enjoyed meeting new friends and sharing much fun &amp; laughter.
