Regrettably Barbara was very poorly during her Presidential year and in October had to undergo an Aortic Dissection requiring Cherril to take over the reins.\u00a0 It was great to see that Barbara was well enough to be present at the AGM to hand over the office of President to Cherril.\u00a0 \u00a0We are pleased to know that Barbara is making progress and is able to attend a few functions. We wish her a steady recovery and look forward to her being back to full strength.<\/p>\n

Cherril presented her programme for the year\u00a0 including a celebration for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.<\/p>\n

Regrettably Covid intervened with our activities making the Presidential change over impossible except virtually.\u00a0 So Past President Jenny was thanked for her extended period in office\u00a0 and she welcomed President Barbara into office wishing her every success in the hope that the club members would be able to meet face to face shortly.\u00a0 \u00a0President Barbara told members that her theme for the year is ‘Engage, Include, Embrace’ and she provided us all with an Action Plan for the year, hoping that release from Covid restrictions would soon be happening.\u00a0 President Barbara’s main charities for the year are the Air Ambulance and water tanks in North Jamaica.\u00a0 Cherril was confirmed as President Elect and other officers were appointed,<\/p>\n

The ANNUAL MEETING in April is always a time to reflect on the past and look forward to the coming year. Outgoing President Gill was thanked for her total commitment, enthusiasm and leadership with particular reference to her concentration on ‘all things Bilston’. Members have enjoyed a good year of fun and friendship, whilst helping many people. Incoming President Jenny received the chain of office stating that her chosen charity is The Samaritans with Mental Health being at the fore front. She is looking forward to an enjoyable year. Other senior officers appointed included Barbara as President Elect and Cherril as Vice President. To mark her 50th wedding anniversary to Roger, Ann had brought wine which made the meeting flow! Thanks and Congratulations Ann & Roger.<\/p>\n

The Annual Charter Celebration this year was a cocktail party followed by a buffet.\u00a0 Excellent entertainment was provided by K-Lo a versatile personality vocalist who really created a party mood and encouraged lots of people to get up and dance.\u00a0 Towards the end of the evening Regional Presidents Pat & Cherril inducted our new president Ann who takes over from Jan to complete the year.<\/p>\n
